Computational biology and bioinformatics are playing essential roles in all fields of life sciences. Since its founding in 1997, the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) continues to be the only society representing computational biology and bioinformatics on a worldwide scale. ISCB serves the global community of researchers, practitioners, technicians, students, and suppliers dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of living systems through computation. In May 2024, ISCB and Tsinghua University signed the strategic cooperation agreement to establish ISCB China Secretariat to actively enhance the influence of ISCB in the Asia Pacific region and to make it easier for Chinese professionals to engage in technical activities sponsored or supported by ISCB. The ISCB China Council (ISCB-China) was established in September 2024 as the academic body responsible for leading the operation and activities of ISCB China Secretariat. The BOD of ISCB-China passed the Bylaw of ISCB-China Council on Sept. 7, 2024.

    The official opening ceremony of ISCB China Secretariat and ISCB China Council is held on October 26, 2024, in Beijing, with about 100 representatives from major Chinese universities, institutions and industries, as well as renowned scholars from around the world. ISCB-China’s mission is to promote in-depth collaboration and exchange of the Chinese community of computation biology and bioinformatics with the global society, and to enhance the in-depth collaboration and fusion of the academic world with the upstream, midstream, and downstream industry.
